Election Day results confirmed an outcome that was certain--I have been re-elected.
Dear Friends,
December 2023 Update: No opponents qualified for the March ballot! I will be re-elected to a second term upon certification of the March election. Accordingly, I will not appear on the November ballot.
December 2023 Update: My council colleagues unanimously elected me to serve as Council President Pro Tem.
December 2023 Update: I qualified for the March Ballot.
I am running for a second term on the San Diego City Council, District 1.
It is hard to believe it has been three years since I was elected. With so much accomplished in that short time, my commitment to public service is just as strong, even stronger.
I have worked to make the District 1 office more accessible and responsive to you. With my hard-working staff, phones are answered, emails returned, solutions offered. We meet you where you are--tabling at the La Jolla Open-Air Market and the Pacific Beach Farmers' Market once a month. We hold townhalls across the district. My community representatives attend community organization meetings and hold listening sessions in local libraries.
I have delivered results across D1, paving La Jolla Parkway, funding the South University City Library, working with UCSD, paving 32 blocks in Del Mar Heights, traffic safety improvements in Carmel Valley & Pacific Highlands Ranch, and protecting recreation facilities in Pacific Beach, to name a few. City-wide, I have focused on supporting our police, firefighters, and lifeguards; protecting our shoreline parks from street vendors and scooters; securing $6 million for housing; and so much more.
As a big city we have work to do: preserving public safety, sensible housing policy, addressing homelessness, repairing our streets and infrastructure, and responding to climate change. Most importantly, a back-to-basics philosophy to deliver the city services you need and expect.
I am eager to continue working on these issues, and with your support, we will continue to make a better San Diego.
